Ecotourism hand in hand with education and research

The National Aviary of Colombia is not only the new tourist alternative for residents and visitors of the Atlantic Coast, but also seeks to promote knowledge of the diversity of Colombian birds, its sustainable use and responsible management.

Is the perfect place for ecotourism, but also a research center that seeks not only to conserve birds, but also to reproduce them. There are currently three breeding programs for threatened or endangered birds: Blue-billed Curassow (Crax Alberti), an endemic species of Colombia; Andean Condor (Vultur gryphus), emblematic bird of the country; and Harpy eagle (Harpia harpyja), the most powerful bird of prey in the world.

The birds that inhabit the Aviary they come from, among others, the Regional Autonomous Corporations of the country, who, due to the illegal trafficking of wildlife, have them; others come from the exchange between zoological institutions and many others from their reproduction 'in situ'.

At National Aviary of Colombia we have 170 species of birds and about 1700 specimens. The route made in the Aviary is unidirectional and lasts approximately two hours, some of them are endangered species, it is such a good opportunity to observe a unique and wonderful collection of birds of Colombia and Latin America.
